Beauty Reminders Before You Hit The Beach

Summer is just a couple of months down the road.  For many of us, summer and beaches are synonymous. While the beach may entice with its cool waves and sunny rays, it may be otherwise for your skin.  Why?  Damaging UV exposure, saltwater, and sandy wind will affect our skin.   So before you hit the beach, here are some beauty reminders that will assure you enjoy your suntan and vitamin D in a flawless manner.

Alert For Self Tanners

Many people go for self-tanning before they welcome the summer season. There is no harm in doing so and in fact, it is a good mood lifter as we have been staying home a lot due to the pandemic. Do note that your skin can stilll be exposed to the UV rays when you are at the beach so it would be good to apply sunscreen to avoid getting sunburn. Then switch to sun tanning lotions for a naturally developed suntan.

Ways To Protect Yourself From The Sun

To fend off the harmful UV rays and enjoy a safe and enjoyable vacation, remember to wear clothing such as cover ups that will cover your skin as much as possible.  Wear a wide brim hat to protect your face, ears and neck.  Also wear sunglasses with UV protection to guard your eyes.  Apply sunscreen with SPF factor of at least 30+ and reapply regularly. While you take care of your face and body, do not forget the often neglected hands, feet, chest and neck.   Also remember to apply sunscreen on the spot where the eye meets the temple and between the brows.

Supplements To Boost Cells For Skin Repair

Cells that are damaged by the sun needs supplements to repair the DNA.  This will prevent long term skin damage and aging.  Vitamin C is a top anti-oxidant and Niacin (B3) can reduce the risk of nonmelanoma skin cancer.

Hair Protection

Protecting your hair from the sun is equally important. Once our hair is damaged, it will lose its excellence. Without protection, the color, moisture and strength of the hair will be compromised.  It is best to stock up on leave-in conditioners for hair as well as sunscreens.

Pigmentation

The chances of developing hyper-pigmentation are high if we are at the beach.  As such, it is very important to protect and maintain our skin by using lots of sunscreen, cooling packs, vitamins and avoid heat.

Another good tip is to apply all sunscreen at least 15 minutes before your start rolling out your beach blanket. Doing this will give some time for the sunscreen to be absorbed into the skin and to be most effective.  Then reapply every 30 minutes if you are in the water or every hour if you are staying on land.

Most importantly, remember to keep hydrating all day long. If you slack on drinking water, your skin will start to dry up and lose its glow. So remember to pack a lot of water with you.

Continue this routine all summer long to keep your skin safe and glowing.
